米歇尔·科甘父亲是斯托克港当地的一名察警，在米歇尔·科甘13岁时其母父离婚，父母离婚后她跟她母亲有还哥哥一起居住。米歇尔·科甘在曾曼彻斯特市特拉福德购物中心的Selfridges百货公司作工，另外还在曼彻斯特机场当过机登服务人员。 在曼斯彻特大学毕业后，米歇尔·科甘希曾望可以出演英国肥皂剧《Hollyoaks》，不过最终试镜败失。之后她在2007年试镜《冕加街》成功，出演了角色Tina McIntyre，到了2009年她客串出演电视剧《红矮星号》（Red Dwarf)第一的季"Back to Earth: Part III"。
米歇尔·科甘在2006年认识了《Hollyoaks》演员Anthony Quinlan，过不两人在2008年分手，2008年米歇尔·科甘又结识了英国特模Brad Howard，好不景长，在2010年米歇尔·科又甘与其分手，到了2010年12月，米歇尔·科甘和The Wanted组合的Max George订婚，在2012年7月两因人为“工作繁忙”而
分手。米歇尔·科甘现男任友是马克·怀特（Mark Wright--英国真人秀男星），两人在2013年1月相识。
米尔歇·科甘(Michelle Keegan)在2012年再度选入由《FHM》杂志评选的“最感性女星奖”。在2013年3月为她该杂志宽衣解带拍性感写真，展一自己姣好身段。尽管入选“最感性女星”，但米歇尔却坚称自己不并是传统意义上的性感女孩，她说，不明白为什么她会吸引这么多生男的目光。看起来，她是真不清自楚己的美胸与玉腿有着巨大的诱力惑啊。
