Mario Macaluso is a talented and charismatic actor, on screen and on stage. He offers tremendous skill and unquestionable versatility.
Macaluso recently finished a film in New York, where he starred opposite Academy-Award winning actress Olympia Dukakis, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Laine Kazan in "The Intervention." Macaluso was hired as a recurring role on the CBS television program "The Handler," staring Joe Pantoliano ("The Sopranos"), as well as a recurring role on "Watching Ellie" with Julia Louise Dreyfus. He recently finished the German film "Wrong Number," where he played the lead character. His next role will be in National Lampoon's upcoming film "Cattle Call," due to start filming in April of 2005.
Macaluso began his acting career in New York, where he was a finalist at the Actor's Studio. He then went on to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, participating in their Shakespeare program. His film and television works include: Saved by the Rules, Potluck, Bluemoon, Pride & Loyalty, Hanging in Hedo, Mobqueen, Summer of Sam, Bamboozled, and more. He performed a comic role as a servant in the Italian opera Il Campanello at The Dicapo Opera House in New York. Due to his comic timing, the company also took him on tour to perform in La Bohème as the character of the restaurant owner.
He and Jimmy Kimmel are founding members of the San Gennaro Foundation, producing a star-studded festival every year. He was a host and board member of the New York City Comedy Film Festival, as well as a host of the Playboy Winter Fest. He is a proud member of the Friar's Club in New York and a founding member of the Sons of Italy Chapter in Hollywood.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mario's personality is a delight on any set. His easy-going style, sharp wit, and tremendous talent make him a popular and valuable member of any film set.
Macaluso is fluent in Italian and conversational Spanish. He is in-demand as a vocal coach for Sicilian accents. Macaluso has dual citizenship for the United States and Italy, and accepts work on occasion overseas.
Macaluso divides his time between project in Hollywood and New York. When he's not busy working, he is very active in a variety of charities including the Lollipop theater group, which services hospitalized and terminally ill children, and the Story Project, which teaches inner city kids about writing.
