Stephen became a Visual Effects Supervisor under the tutelage of two time Academy Award winner John Dykstra (Spiderman 1&2/X-Men First Class).
Stephen added the title of screenwriter to his resume when he adapted Stephen King's short story The Mangler for New Line Cinema, under the supervision of Stephen King himself. Stephen is now a Stephen King approved writer. Stephen not only wrote The Mangler, but also directed its 2nd unit and supervised the film's visual effects while on location in South Africa.
Stephen's next three movies were for Nu Image where he wrote the screenplays for Spiders and Spiders 2. In addition to writing duties on Spiders 2 Stephen also directed the 2nd Unit and Effects Unit in Bulgaria. Soon after Stephen found himself at Ramoji Film Studios in India directing 2nd Unit on Air Panic. After wrapping the last of his Nu Image trilogy Stephen decided it was time to move into the director's chair.
The world premiere of Stephen's directorial debut Heads N TailZ was in Los Angeles at the 2005 Dances With Films festival, where the film won the Fusion Audience Award. Moving to Europe, Heads N TailZ screened at the Festival Du Cinema De Bruxelles and the Swansea Film Festival in Swansea, Wales. Heads N TailZ recently received a Special Jury Prize from The Festival Du Film De Strasbourg. Stephen's director's cut of Heads N TailZ recently screened in a competition at the 2008 European Independent Film Festival in Paris, France and screened at the D.C. Independent Film Festival in Washington D.C. this last March.
Stephen has just been attached to direct the psychological thriller "The Second Sight of Father Cooper" and the big budget fantasy film "The Director."
