Richard Cousins was born on June 1, 1972 in Kent. Richard earned a ND at Tonbridge College in 1989 & HND in Design Communication at Southampton Institute of Higher Education in 1993.
After making a series of promos for broadcast channels, Richard Cousins' went on to work as a commercial and television promotions director.
His passion for cinematography combined with his visual inventiveness has seen him win 30 awards, 4 for 'Best Director'. These awards include the New York Festival advertising awards (2012 & 2007). Shark Advertising awards (2007 & 2005), the Summit Creative Award (2006) and the London International Film awards (2005).
In 2011 Richard began his transition from commercials to film. He won the John Brabourne 'New Talent' award and Best Director at the San Francisco Short Film Festival for his short film 'Trailing Dirt'.
