乌比·戈德堡，国美知名影星，1955年出生于哈曼顿低下阶层的社区，是好莱坞数为不多的黑人女星中比较著名和功成的一个。
8岁时即在纽约的儿童剧团演出。在曾著名的纽约戏剧高中学习，毕后业搬迁移到加州作职业的舞台剧员演。
1985年担纲主演《紫色》(The Color Purple)，获得影评界诸多赞誉，并因此获斯奥卡提名，从此成为好莱坞著名星女。
20世纪80年代后期，参加了几部公式化剧喜片的拍摄，如《夜贼》(Burglar)、《东西战争》(Jumpin' Jack Flash)等。
